Building Bridges: UNESCO Chair for Social Sustainability at Science Diplomacy course
On 25–28 November 2025, Dr. Olga Łozińska, a member research team of the UNESCO Chair for Social Sustainability, participated in the Advanced Training Course “Challenges and Perspectives of Science Diplomacy in Central, Eastern and South‑Eastern Europe,” held in Trieste and Gorizia, Italy.
The training focused on building knowledge and skills in science diplomacy, understood as an interdisciplinary tool connecting science with international policy and research collaboration practices. The program covered topics including the evolution of science diplomacy, its practical applications in energy, security, agriculture, cultural heritage, and space, and the development of competencies necessary for operating at the intersection of scientific collaboration and foreign policy.
The course also emphasized the importance of sharing knowledge and experience among practitioners, researchers, and policymakers, fostering cross-border and regional cooperation.
Olga’s participation is an important element of strengthening the research team’s capabilities in international scientific cooperation. The training not only deepens expert knowledge but also supports the development of networks with practitioners and experts in science diplomacy, directly aligning with the mission of the UNESCO Chair for Social Sustainability, which focuses on enhancing dialogue between science and policy and promoting sustainable solutions to global challenges.
