UNESCO Chair for Social Sustainability at the University of Szczecin renewed until 2030

We are pleased to announce that UNESCO has renewed the mandate of the UNESCO Chair for Social Sustainability at the University of Szczecin until 31 December 2030. The decision extends the agreement between UNESCO and the University of Szczecin, originally established in 2022 under the UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs Programme.

The renewal recognizes the Chair’s achievements over the past four years and confirms the importance of its contribution to advancing research, education, and public engagement in the field of social sustainability. Under the leadership of Professor Maciej Kowalewski, the Chair will continue to support UNESCO’s objectives through interdisciplinary research, teaching and training activities, community engagement, and knowledge dissemination.

In its official letter addressed to the Rector of the University of Szczecin, UNESCO emphasizes the significance of the Chair’s role within the UNESCO Sciences Sector and highlights the importance of continued institutional support. The renewed mandate encourages the active participation of the Chair’s team in UNESCO initiatives and those of its international partners, while strengthening opportunities for inter-university collaboration and the exchange of knowledge and good practices.

The extension of the Chair’s mandate until 2030 provides a strong foundation for further international cooperation, the development of innovative research projects, and the promotion of sustainable social development through academic excellence and partnerships with local and global communities.
